Monday Monday

1-19-2009

A very merry Monday. Not too bad, but very tiring. Today was the first morning I woke with the children and helped get them to school. Ludovica listens to everything I say and is not difficult. Anna is another story. She bosses me around and flat out ignores me. She is more of a tom boy, while Ludo is very feminine. They are both beautiful, especially Anna.

I helped them get dressed and served breakfast, just bread and butter and some cereal. They LOVE nutella. Camilla took them to school. I cleared the table and cleaned up after the morning rush. Then went back to sleep for an hour. Hehehe. Later I went out and walked around the neighborhood. I bought a panino con carne for lunch.

Oh, I stepped in dog poo while I was out. A thing about Italy, the darn dog poo is EVERYWHERE. This was an especially huge pile. It looked more like the poo of a horse than a dog. YUCK. So, I had to wash my shoe before entering the apartment. Won't do that again. Have to watch every step.

Camilla and I picked the girls up at 4:30 today. She introduced me to their teachers so that I can pick them up from school without any hassle. Monday and Wednesday they stay at school late and have swimming afterwards. I watched Pietro at home while Camilla took them to the pool. When they came back, Camilla asked if I wanted to go out. No, because it's a rainy cold day in Rome. Also, every muscle in my body hurts after walking all over Rome yesterday. Camilla said that she wanted to go to the cinema, so I would stay and put the kids to bed. Very easy task, actually. She has it down to a science. Federico is away in Milan until Wednesday on a business trip.

For dinner Camilla made gnocci with pesto and salad. I put the salad on the same plate as the gnocci and she was surprised by this. Won't do that again. I cleaned up after dinner and put the kids to bed. Pietro is easy, just put him in his crib. The girls pretty easy too, pajamas and lights out at 8/830. They stay up and talk a while. I let them.

Then Nick and I were able to video chat with each other over the internet. So comforting to see him. I miss him so much and it was a little emotional. I showed him the apartment and what was in the fridge ... the best assortment of cheese, ham, boxed wine, good fresh veggies ... I even showed him the left over gnocci. It was so good to talk to him and hear his voice. We talked for over an hour.
